WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?  Part 5

Ice Breaker:   What do you think when you hear the word "Christian"?  What would your unchurched friends say about the word?

Vision Sharing One of the 5 goals of our LIFE Group is to reach lost people who don't know Christ, and share the good news with them.  We always reserve an empty chair signifying that we are an open group ready to welcome others into our group.  If you have a person in your life who needs God's love, they are welcome here.

Worship/Praise:  Sing along or listen to worship cd's – or share praises together (encourage your group to give thanks for God's blessings)

Bible DiscussionAs we conclude our series, "Who Do You Think You Are?" we are discussing what God says about what He thinks we are.  This week, we see that God says, "As a follower of Christ, YOU ARE A DISCIPLE.  Pastor Mike mentioned that there is a reason why he didn't include "Christian" as part of who we are…  He stated that the term Christian is in the New Testament 3 times.  READ Acts 11:25-26 This indicates that outsiders began to call followers of Christ as Christians…  It was probably used as a derogatory term.  Jesus Never used the term Christian.  In the New Living Translation of Matthew 9:9 called Matthew by saying, "Follow me and be my disciple."  The early church called followers "disciples", and is used 256 times.  READ Acts 6:1-2; 7

What is a disciple?

1.  FULLY DEVOTED -  READ Luke 14:25-26  What does Jesus mean in this passage?  Is this reasonable?  Is this possible?  How?

2.  A FOLLOWER – READ Luke 14:27  What does it mean to follow Christ?

3.  LIKE CHRIST – READ Luke 14:12  What does it mean to do what Jesus was doing?  Is this possible?  For you?

Sharing/PrayerGod declares that as a follower of Christ… YOU are His disciple.  What areas of your life need help or healing so that you can live that out?  Pray for one another that we might motivate one another on to maturity…
